Genetic engineering: man VS God ?
I would like views of my fellow students on this particular controversial issue, which is already a heated subject under discussion in the west.
Should man continue his tireless effort to explore the code of life, or he ought to succumb to whatever comes his way, in the name of fate?
iam a absolute voter in support of cloning
*Cmon people Mr.Tony is right, its for our own benefit that we start expressing our perceptions, have discussions and learn new facts/figures , so start posting.
Once you post ..you wont stop! ( doesn't this phrase remind you of pringles)

Afaq and Mubaraka are blazing the trail. Where are the other bloggers?
Thanks for your e-card, Abdulrahim!
Man has always been in the quest of exploring the universal code of life. Hailing from the superior lot, research/discoveries have always been carried out with enthusiastic strive for perfection and betterment of mankind.
Often when we think of cloning,a creation so scary and monstrous almost like the Frankenstein which might wipe out the whole human race comes to our mind.
But cloning already exists in today’s world, we have around 40 million clones presently breathing and living a normal life with their own soul ,thinking patterns and individuality. I am talking about- twins.
On one stance I particularly agree, with inventions comes responsibilities, but than we call our selves the superior race so why can’t we set a red line between ethical and non-ethical use of cloning.
Cases where couples want beautiful designer babies( blue eyes, blond hair etc), preferences over the sex of a baby, old people dying late and the strong getting more stronger are ethical issues under discussion and laws would be regulated to curb them.
But, than there are side effects of everything we use in our lives; from common cold antibiotics to traveling in a yacht/car/train or aero plane for that matter where we risk the lives of 300+ passengers at one time only. But did the fear of falling from such a tremendous height stop the invention and progression of this particular invention…NO!
If we didn’t strive , we’d still be traveling on donkey backs and looking at the sky marveling how the birds flew.
Imagine a Childless couple, with no hope of having a son or daughter of their own whom they could help with the first step, teach how to talk, or just wipe out the dribble off the chin. Don’t you already feel sorry for them?
But what if they could have a child of their own, life would be worth for them.
Lets talk about plastic surgery. Risks are involved here too, but does the thought of getting a tummy tuck, wrinkle free young look and acceptance in society stop us from this surgery. No, because reality checks are part and parcel of every invention, starting from within us.
Is human cloning "playing with nature?" If so, how does that compare with other reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization or hormone treatments
Coming down to Nuclear technology, yes they are present at a highly alerting rate in today’s world, but every government is responsible for the control over it. Just because the US was arrogant enough to go ahead and drop it over Japan , doesn’t mean everyone will follow the route.
The power to reason and balance the pro’s and cons are present in human mind.
If we are not sure of something, doesn’t mean we altogether stop thinking for its solution.
Diseases like anemia, weak immune system, Alzheimer , diabetes( very few to mention) can be cured using the stem cell research. We learn from our mistakes and continue to strive for perfection.
Curiosity is in Human nature .It started way back in Adam and Eve’s era and am pretty sure wont stop till the end of time.
By being skeptical about the fact that perhaps such cloning discoveries,“human inventions ”, might be genetically superior to us , only displays our inner most fears, inhibitions and egoistic attitude towards life
From the fear of dying, should we stop living?
If Ian Wilmut was so forcefully against the concept of cloning humans or animals, why did he initiate it in the first place.
His is a classic example of "i preach what i don’t do"
So is the case with why should we allow USA to intervene in our nuclear capabilities. I agree.
I believe might is right. Knowing that your country might be under attack from a superior technologically armed enemy and still feebly doing nothing about because that’s what “everyone” expects from you is wrong and cowardly. Theirs nothing immoral in joining the exclusive club, because if you cant beat them, join them.
Commenting that twins and man made clones are same, wouldn’t be a false statement. Yes, I agree they start out from different branches with the twins being the “biological child” but both twins /clones end up having different personalities and identities.
Life/destiny is what we make of it. I am strongly against the theory of believing what is final and destined , is scribbled in the lines our palms. Looking from religious point of view, God Himself says that we can change our destiny with our will and prayers. Our fate changes every minute by every action we make.
Coming to Internet/ ammunition usage, our views are similar, technology has its side effects. I don’t want to compare cloning with something trivial as “using of photo copier”
And yes, if Adam would have been more sensible , we all wouldn’t be here.
(Death is certain and cannot be reversed by any scientific breakthrough)..till now. There’s always a huge cry of beliefs and ethics from the religious stand and similar commotion from more materialistic masses when something new crops up.
Lets face it, truth is out there and cloning of humans is inevitable.
I wouldn’t want to go into the Darwin theory on species, that’s another story altogether:)
Iam Wilmut was one thick head .It took him 277 tries later to realize that cloning is “dangerous”. Strange are the ways of these scientists.
I am not stating that cloning humans would be something of a one time experiment and voila-the perfect human is created. No, it will certainly take tries, perhaps more than how many it took to make dolly. But weighing the massive advantages we can use by human cloning of DNA, its surely worth.
Might is right. Look around where do you see justice. In this society? In our home country ? Internationally? No where!
Speaking of justice and equal human rights in Pakistan, all I see is rich getting richer, minority abuse, religious bias, rape victims abused by police and media( cant remember her name , but recently a doctor wo was also a rape victime, flew to U.K from Pakistan, because she failed to get justice)
Where was justice or democracy when the previous prime minister was toppled by the present one? And no I don’t favour him or the latter, in fact I don’t favour any politician.
Young girls of marriageable age are wed to the Quran. Its a sickening thought and this happens because men in the family dont want any outsider to inherit their hectares of property.
In today’s times, the grey matter tends to be thrown back seat by the stronger force called Power.
And the world has become a jungle.Time to face the facts and leave the sweet ‘happily ever after’ tune behind.
Keep in mind what happened with the muslims in Bosnia?
Or Kashmir for that matter? I don’t want to take any sides, but isn’t the way of who’s more influential in brutality winning the war?
Why are the Iraqi people treated and mishandled by Bush, when saddam was the culprit. Did any one witness the weapons of mass destruction in iraq, sure bush did, in his dreams. But still, he did what he did and will continue to do so because UNO is a pitiful puppet and the rest of the world keep silence before the authority/rule/force of US.
I hope I am not coming on too strongly in my arguments.
