Help the i-words
Dear Yasmeen,
I-words had their last official class with Sir Tony yesterday. Most of us decided to follow the pattern of i-magic i.e by coming to BC on Thursdays and giving a full fledge preparatory exam.
Unfortunately, we had no clue how to start.
Please help us, by explaining how i-magic prepared for the writing/listening/reading sections on thursdays as a collective class.
As for speaking, I have thought of asking everyone to come prepared with 2-3 topics of interest to ask the other student and time ourselves accordingly.
Looking for a positive reply .
**what are the timings of BC on Thursday when we could drop in?**

Hiya Mubs
Well done for getting the troops organised!
As far as I know, Yasmeen and co used the practice material from the BC program on the start menu, then programs and IELTS Academic / GT practice material.
Also there is the Cambridge Test Book 1 which is available in the learning Zone computers (I think!).
Basically she timed themselves doing the respective exams back-to-back under test conditions. My trusty stopwatch came in useful.
The BC is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm on Thursdays. It's better to start around 11.00am as the Young Learners tend to be a bit of a pest otherwise...
Stand by for feedback directly from Yasmeen or other i-magic bods.
I'll email Yasmeen now to alert her of your need for guidance.
Excellent idea, Miss Mubs!
Will try to comment on some of your postings later...

Dear Sir Tony and Yasmeen,
Thank you both on your constant support.I wonder what i would do with you two!.
Yasmeen said she will be able to confirm about the timings by today.So.I will keep logging in to check that.
Now comes the issue of STOP WATCH, i doubt if anyone has it....so i suppose we could bring an alarm clock or something.
Once i get the timings right, i could post the full program here or email the other i-words individually.
I would also have to check what time suits everyone to pop in.
Well, thats what i could think of as for now...
I bought my stopwatch from the hamdan centre (1st floor, halfway along - a gift shop NOT a sports shop) for 50 Dirhams. I think it's a CASIO model (?), but in any case it's perfectly adequate for the timing of your exam tasks.
Maybe the group can all contribute 10 Dhs or less (?) to use in the Learning Zone.
I have a full class of 16 new IELTSers starting on Saturday 14 May - there are even others who want to join, apparently, but the class is full (phew!). Is it the time of year or have you been telling all your mates to sign up with me , lol ;) !!!!
Keep up the self help!
Cheers
Tony B
Thanks for your support as well, Yasmeen!
Sir,this just shows how your reputation precedes, even before the students actually get to meet you.
As for the stop watch, yeah we could all contribute.
But i have no clue where everyone is? Or if anyone does want to come.
Everyone did seem eager to come and very much wanted me to inform when we could come for practice.
Anyways...12pm on thursday would be fine.
Afaq..what do you think?
So come on you bunch of "wets"!!
Mubarka is taking the initiative and expects SUPPORT!
So all you I-words people LURKING in the background, come out and confirm that you WILL be at the BC this Thursday at 12.00 noon. You should all contribute towards the cost of the stopwatch. HEBA, ALYAZI, SHAIKHA, MARIAM, KATAYOUN, MHD AZEEM, MOHN NASRUL, SYED, SANTHOSH, VINOD, AHMED and AFAQ -get yourselves organized, for heaven's sake!!
Tony B
